Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist- Construction Industry

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist with deep knowledge of union labor payroll compliance and construction industry practices . This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial operations and full compliance with union requirements across multiple projects and jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
Manage full-cycle accounts payable including invoice review, approvals, coding, and payments.
Maintain vendor records and ensure timely payments and accurate reconciliation.
Collaborate with project managers to resolve invoice discrepancies.
Assist with month-end closing and reporting.
Payroll:
Process multi-state weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees in compliance with job-specific labor agreements.
Track certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements; generate and submit certified payroll reports.
Maintain payroll records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Coordinate with field leadership and HR for timely and accurate payroll data collection.
Union Labor Compliance:
Interpret and apply union agreements (CBAs) to ensure payroll practices adhere to contract terms.
Stay up to date on union fringe benefits, dues reporting, and remittance schedules.
Communicate with union representatives to resolve discrepancies and maintain compliance.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in payroll and accounts payable in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of union labor compliance, certified payroll reporting, and prevailing wage laws (Davis-Bacon, state-specific laws).
Experience working with multiple unions and understanding of collective bargaining agreements.
Proficient in construction accounting and payroll software (e.g., Viewpoint Vista, Foundation, Sage 100 Contractor, or similar).
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field .
