Job Title: Construction Estimator We are now interviewing Construction Estimator candidates for our client in Emeryville, CA. The Chief Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the division's estimating program, providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives are met. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, bid results, and archives. Implement and maintain corporate estimating procedures utilizing the corporate computer estimating system and database. Assist Executives, Business Development, and Project Management in determining project bidding strategies and techniques. Review all final estimate packages for accuracy and completeness before submission. Review scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects. Participate in presentations to corporate management and clients, possibly responsible for closing sales. Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. Assist in preparing studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as needed. Other duties may be assigned based on the position's role within the business unit. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Advanced management or technical training. Strong organizational, supervisory, and decision-making/problem-solving skills. Proficiency in using computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Familiarity with modern computer estimating systems. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities. Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines with a positive attitude. Effective oral and written communication skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team. Professional interaction with all levels of staff, vendors, clients, and others. CORE COMPETENCIES: Leadership Financial Awareness Quality WHAT YOU BRING TO US: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related business field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in large-scale commercial construction estimating and related functions, with thorough knowledge of estimating objectives, strategies, techniques, and construction contracts. Combination of education and technical/field training such as Engineering or Estimating experience.
