Description
Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP is seeking a full-time, benefits-eligible Litigation Paralegal who will provide support to our Litigation attorneys through all phases of litigation with a primary focus on our commercial/construction litigation work. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal procedures, court rules, and document management systems, and will be able to handle a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with professionalism and accuracy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist attorneys with case preparation from inception through trial and post-trial.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests/responses, and correspondence.
- Organize and manage case files, exhibits, and trial binders both physically and electronically.
- Perform factual and legal research and summarize findings.
- Coordinate and manage discovery, including document collection, review, and production.
- File documents with state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with all court rules and deadlines.
- Schedule and coordinate depositions, witness interviews, and court appearances.
- Assist in trial preparation and attend trials as needed.
- Communicate with clients, experts, witnesses, court personnel, and opposing counsel professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret statutes and case law.
- Communicates effectively with clients, potential clients, and internal and external attorneys
- Basic understanding of Microsoft programs and standard office equipment, including copier/scanner/fax machine and a computer.
- Organize, prioritize and complete numerous tasks under strict time constraints; ability to multi-task, concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and being able to think outside the box and apply problem-solving skills calmly.
- Ability to proof-read and edit correspondence and legal documents; attention to detail is extremely important.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills to communicate effectively and provide information with sensitivity, courtesy, and tact.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required; AAS degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and court rules (state and federal), strongly preferred.
- At least three (3) years of litigation paralegal experience strongly preferred.
- Notary Public License highly desired.
- Paralegal certificate preferred.

Salary Description
$26.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience
