Join Johnson & Asberry Communications to lead community engagement efforts across a wide range of infrastructure and development projects, all based in New York City. We’re looking for two people-first, mission-driven Community Construction Liaison’s to assist our growing team as we manage the community engagement and public relations for a variety of high-profile city infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
- Create and implement a plan for community involvement and public engagement and provide regular reviews and updates.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and local communities affected by construction projects.
- Develop and implement community engagement strategies to facilitate open communication and address community concerns.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and community organizations to coordinate project activities and minimize disruptions to residents and businesses.
- Conduct outreach efforts to inform stakeholders about project timelines, goals, and potential impacts, utilizing various communication channels such as community meetings, newsletters, and social media.
- Represent the company at community board meetings, public hearings, and other relevant forums to provide updates and address inquiries or feedback.
- Serve as a liaison with city agencies, advocating for community interests and ensuring compliance with regulations and permits.
- Monitor project sites to proactively identify and address issues related to safety, cleanliness, and noise mitigation.
- Provide support to project teams by assisting with permit applications, documentation, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to continuously improve community relations practices and incorporate feedback into future projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, communications, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with NYC agencies, particularly in the realm of construction or urban development, is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with local politics, community organizing, or grassroots advocacy efforts.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and navigate sensitive issues diplomatically.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and exercise good judgment in decision-making.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends and travel across all five boroughs as needed.
- Genuine interest in community engagement and a passion for making a positive impact through construction projects.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
