Construction Controller

I'm partnered with a well-established construction firm near Hinsdale, IL that was ranked Chicago Tribune's Top Work Places 6 years in a row! As the company continues to grow, they're seeking a Controller to join their team. Reporting directly into the CFO, the Controller will oversee both the general ledger accounting and projects while managing a team of 4. The long-term goal for this person will be to take over and progress into a Regional Controllership level.

Controller Responsibilities:

Manage a team of four individuals across project and general accounting

Oversee and approve entries for month-end close and provide to senior leadership

Partner with private equity partners on corporate reporting tools

Partner with outsourced accounting firm on improvements for the accounting procedures

Partner with finance department for budgeting, planning and forecasting

The Successful Applicant

A successful Controller should have:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline
• 10+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry
• Hands-on accounting experience within the construction industry
• Management experience
• Progressive growth as a Controller
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments
• Effective communicator with solid organizational abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and accounting software
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Skilled at managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment
• Ability to collaborate and work well with others
