Construction Crew Member Job Description
Role
As a Construction Crew Member at Imber Pool + Outdoor , you play a vital role in the construction and installation of high-end pools and outdoor living spaces. You will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of the building process, ensuring that each project is completed with precision, efficiency, and adherence to company standards. This hands-on role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in an outdoor construction environment.
You will work under the supervision of a Construction Crew Lead and Project Manager, performing tasks such as excavation, framing, concrete work, plumbing installation, tile and decking, and general labor. You will also assist with setting fiberglass pools, plumbing, installing pool equipment, and performing basic concrete work. Your efforts directly contribute to delivering high-quality outdoor environments that exceed client expectations.
This role is hands-on, physically demanding, and essential to ensuring each project meets our high standards of quality and precision. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and thrives in a fast-paced, outdoor setting.
Responsibilities
Pool & Outdoor Construction Tasks
Assist with excavation, grading, and site preparation for pools and outdoor structures.
Perform pool shell construction , including rebar installation and concrete pouring.
Assist in the installation of tile, coping, decking, and other finishes .
Support the installation of plumbing, filtration, and electrical systems under supervision.
Assemble and install outdoor structures , including pergolas, cabanas, and outdoor kitchens.
Worksite Preparation & Cleanup
Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
Keep job sites clean, organized, and free of safety hazards .
Assist in setting up work areas and ensuring all necessary tools and materials are available.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
Assist with the operation of heavy machinery (e.g., skid steers, mini excavators) under supervision.
Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment after use.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Report any safety concerns, hazards, or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Team Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with crew members, subcontractors, and project managers to complete tasks efficiently.
Take direction and follow instructions accurately .
Communicate any delays, issues, or material shortages to the team leader.
Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor when interacting with clients on-site.
Other Duties as Assigned
Be flexible and willing to assist with additional tasks as needed to ensure project success.
Results
Projects Completed on Time & to Standard
Pools, outdoor structures, and hardscapes are built according to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
Work is completed efficiently within the designated project timelines.
Minimal rework or corrections required due to workmanship errors.
Worksite Preparedness & Safety Compliance
Job sites remain clean, organized, and free from hazards at all times.
All work is performed following safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to company safety policies.
Equipment & Material Management
Proper handling, care, and maintenance of company tools, vehicles, and equipment.
Materials are used efficiently, with minimal waste and loss.
Equipment is properly stored and accounted for after each job.
Effective Team Collaboration & Communication
Works cohesively with fellow crew members, project managers, and subcontractors.
Provides clear and timely updates on work progress and any issues that arise.
Follows instructions accurately and asks questions when clarification is needed.
Customer Satisfaction & Professionalism
Interacts with clients respectfully and professionally when on-site.
Ensures the job site remains presentable and minimally disruptive to homeowners.
Responds to project manager feedback with a solution-oriented mindset.

Requirements
Experience & Skills
Preferred: 1+ years of experience in pool construction, hardscaping, landscaping, or general outdoor construction.
Ability to read and follow construction plans and project blueprints.
Basic knowledge of construction tools (e.g., saws, drills, compactors) and ability to use them safely.
Experience with concrete, excavation, plumbing, or electrical work is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality workmanship.
Basic math skills for measuring and cutting materials accurately.
Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from supervisors.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs regularly and perform physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
Comfortable working in heat, cold, rain, and other outdoor elements .
Able to stand, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks for long periods.
Must have manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating tools and equipment.
Comfortable working at heights and in trenches as required for pool and outdoor construction.
Other Requirements
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Reliable transportation to and from office and/or job sites.
Must pass a background check and drug test
Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
Must be punctual and dependable , showing up to job sites on time and ready to work.
