Location : West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, 11301 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90073-1003. Client : U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Project : Boiler Replacement Start Date (Anticipated) : September 2025 Duration : 2 Years
Position Summary ISI seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in healthcare electrical systems to support a Boiler Plant Replacement project at the West LA VAMC. The engineer will serve as an Owner’s Representative, overseeing the installation and commissioning of electrical systems related to boiler plant modernization. This includes low- and medium-voltage distribution, emergency and backup power systems, and integration with hospital infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Monitor onsite electrical construction activities to ensure compliance with VA design criteria, National Electrical Code (NEC), and other applicable standards. Review contractor submittals, RFIs, test plans, load calculations, and daily construction reports for electrical systems. Validate and inspect installation of electrical feeders, switchgear, generator connections, lighting, and grounding systems. Participate in commissioning activities, including functional testing, system energization, and documentation review. Support change order and claims analysis related to electrical scopes of work. Review as-built drawings and ensure redlines reflect installed conditions. Provide technical guidance related to arc flash studies, selective coordination, and electrical safety compliance. Coordinate closely with Mechanical Engineer(s) and hospital staff to manage utility interruptions and startup sequencing. Identify potential issues in power distribution and propose corrective measures to maintain schedule and safety compliance.
Minimum Qualifications Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution Experience: 6+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, including boiler plants or similar healthcare/industrial facility construction Skills: Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, hospital-grade electrical infrastructure. Proficient in reviewing electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications
Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting federal healthcare facilities (VA or other agencies) Experience with VA Design Guides Familiarity with commissioning protocols and boiler plant operations Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Work Schedule and Setting Full-time, onsite. Normal hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Occasional off-hours work may be required to accommodate hospital operations
