The Construction Field Engineer will support field operations by providing engineering expertise, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.
- Displays applications of sound professional judgment on details of work.
- Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design.
- Performs quantity surveys for tracking and reporting.
- Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of heavy civil construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Provide technical support to field crews, foremen, and superintendents throughout all project phases.
- Coordinate and manage construction activities such as earthworks, grading, concrete placement, drainage systems, underground utilities, and structural work.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Support project controls by tracking quantities, costs, progress, and resource usage.
- Conduct field inspections and quality assurance checks to verify compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and engineers on RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Ensure that all operations adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, DOT, EPA).
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous heavy civil construction experience
Additional Information:
- This position is based in Citrus Heights, CA
- Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
- This position does not include sponsorship for a United States work authorization.
The salary range for this position is between $120,000-$140,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
