Position summary
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates, performing quantity take-offs, reviewing plans and specifications, managing bid documents, and analyzing project costs. You'll work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure proposals are competitive and reflect the full scope of work.
As an Operations Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day execution of awarded projects. This includes managing project schedules, coordinating field crews and subcontractors, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, monitoring performance, and resolving issues to keep jobs on track. You'll play a key role in bridging the gap between estimating and field execution, ensuring seamless project delivery from preconstruction through closeout.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed estimates and bid packages for heavy civil projects
Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis using construction documents
Develop and manage project budgets and timelines
Coordinate daily operations and ensure work aligns with project plans and safety protocols
Supervise crews, subcontractors, and equipment on site
Maintain strong communication with clients, vendors, and internal teams
Track project performance, resolve field issues, and implement improvements
Use construction software for estimating, scheduling, and reporting
Support company leadership with planning and resource allocation
Qualifications
Proven experience in heavy civil construction
Strong skills in estimating and quantity take-offs
Ability to manage multiple projects and crews simultaneously
Excellent cost control, budgeting, and financial tracking abilities
Effective leadership and decision-making in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in construction management software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required with equivalent experience)
