Construction Estimator

Our client specializes in Federal, State, Municipal Government contracts as well as commercial construction projects.
This position can be hybrid or remote, with a preferred arrangement of 80% in-office and 20% remote. Candidates outside the region are encouraged to apply-relocation assistance is available.
Responsibilities
-Maintain and update status of plan reproductions.
-Solicit bids and maintain strong communication with subcontractors and vendors.
-Prepare detailed subcontractor scopes of work.
-Distribute addenda and bid information to subcontractors.
-Ensure adequate bid coverage and multiple bidders for each trade.
-Coordinate material quotes with supply houses.
-Apply creative and strategic thinking to improve subcontractor pricing.
-Accurately enter relevant data into estimates.
-Follow standard estimation, approval, and change control procedures.
-Identify and mitigate risks and resolve issues when needed.
-Thoroughly understand bid requirements and scope of work.
-Generate RFIs and clarifications to ensure proper subcontractor engagement.
-Conduct in-depth bid-day analysis and scope assigned trades.
-Match subcontractors to project size and scope.
-Build accurate bid lists tailored to each project.
-Reduce exclusions through proactive research and preparation.
-Perform quantity takeoffs.
-Offer value-engineering alternatives in every bid.
-Follow up on submitted bids and budgets to drive award decisions.
-Manage buy-outs and turn over bid documents to the Project Manager promptly.
-Review project drawings and job costs with the PM team.
-Ensure timely subcontractor award and release of materials.
-Communicate project schedules and requirements to subs clearly.
-Assemble subcontractor teams and participate in site visits and bid meetings.

Qualifications
-Minimum 3+ years of experience estimating U.S.-based commercial and/or federal construction projects.
-5+ years preferred in commercial, institutional, or military construction estimating.
-Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience.
-Experience with RS Means and e4Clicks preferred.
