Construction Estimator

Job Purpose:
As an estimator, your main responsibility will be to estimate work of particular projects by gathering proposals, Engineering drawings, specifications, and related documents. The Estimator position will work closely with VP of Operations and CEO to determine the costs associated with completing the scope of work in a tender. This position is responsible for completing quantity take-offs, preparing cost estimates, organizing bid, communicating with sub trades to determine the financial needs of completing a project.
Job Duties:
Understand scope of work to be bid.
Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, MOT plans, Engineering drawings, specifications, and related documents
Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, Plans, specifications, and related documents
Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data
Strong understanding of the traffic control safety/construction process
Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Able to multi task and meet strict deadlines
Create and Change Order
Company reserves the rights to add or change duties at any time
Job Qualifications:
1-2 year experience in the traffic control safety/construction estimating industry (preferred)
Proficient in Microsoft, tracking and upkeep of spreadsheets, general computer use, ability and interest to learn new managing tracking software
Familiarity with traffic control safety/construction methods
Able to read MOT plans, contracts and develop cost estimates
Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentations skills (English and Spanish (preferred) )
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment
Demonstrate willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
Strong multi-tasking, interpersonal and organizational skills
Physical Requirements/ Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.
Requires lifting and carrying of up to 50lb or more.
Requires using hands to handle, control or lift objects with a strong grip
