Construction Foreman

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Foreman to lead field crews in the installation of fiber optic infrastructure. This hands-on role involves supervising daily construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and according to project specifications. The ideal candidate has a strong background in telecom or fiber optic construction, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in telecom or fiber optic construction, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of fiber optic construction crews (aerial and/or underground)
- Ensure proper installation of conduit, handholes, fiber optic cable, and related infrastructure
- Interpret and execute construction plans, blueprints, and work orders
- Maintain daily job site documentation including crew timesheets, materials used, and progress reports
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures, ensuring all work complies with OSHA, company, and local standards
- Communicate effectively with Project Managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and crew members
- Coordinate with utility companies and locate services to prevent conflicts with existing infrastructure
- Perform quality control checks and troubleshooting issues to minimize rework and delays
- Manage on-site equipment and materials, ensuring proper use and maintenance
- Train and mentor crew members to develop technical and safety skills

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience in fiber optics, telecom, or utility construction
- Prior leadership or foreman experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of fiber installation techniques (aerial, underground, splicing basics)
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and maps
- Familiarity with traffic control procedures and DOT regulations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working in outdoor environments and various weather conditions
- Proficient with basic technology (e.g., tablets, project tracking apps)
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
- Experience constructing fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks
- GIS Mapping and data manipulation experience preferred (QGIS,ArcGIS,etc)
- This role requires extensive travel with the ability to travel to various locations to perform job duties. Travel schedules may be predictable, or variable depending on the needs of the project and may take short trips, longer trips, or extended stays depending on the needs of the project. A company vehicle is provided.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, crouch, or stand for extended periods
- Willingness to work at heights, on ladders, in bucket trucks, or on poles
- Comfortable working in confined spaces such as handholes or manholes
- Ability to operate and safely handle power tools and heavy equipment
- Tolerance for working in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind)
- Capable of extended travel to remote job sites as needed
- Ability to wear and operate in required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, gloves, and fall protection gear
- This position requires the ability to crouch and stand in undefined positions in narrow spaces to operate machinery or manufacturing machines.
- Base pay is paid at an hourly rate. The hourly range for this position is $32.00 to $40.00 depending on experience.
