The General Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of construction site operations, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety standards and quality specifications. The General Superintendent plays a key role in coordinating between the construction team and project management. This role includes hands-on management of staff, equipment, and supplies, as well as planning for future staff, supplies and equipment needed to support the companys operational needs. Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Supervision: Supervise a team of Project Superintendents, providing guidance, direction and support. Supervise Self-Perform/ Interiors Team foreman, providing guidance, direction and support. Foster a collaborative, accountable productive work environment with a focus on continuous improvement. Ensure that Superintendents have the training and resources necessary to perform all functions of their job. Set performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and assist with workforce development and training initiatives Review/approve or reject labor crew time-off requests in Paycor. Field Operations Oversight: Ensure field operations are executed in accordance with company standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. Conduct regular site visits to monitor job progress, verify compliance with schedules, and troubleshoot field issues. Coordinate Superintendent manpower planning and resource allocation across multiple active jobs. Support preconstruction field planning efforts in coordination with project management and estimating teams. Safety and Compliance: Champion jobsite safety and enforce compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular site inspections and enforce safety practices and documentation among on-site personnel. Participate in incident investigations and corrective action planning when necessary. Work with Superintendents and Project Managers to establish site-specific Safety Plans and Emergency Action Plans. Scheduling & Logistics Oversee project schedules and collaborate with Project Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure deadlines are met. Review and approve project look-ahead schedules and logistics plans. Identify and mitigate schedule and coordination conflicts between trades and subcontractors. Quality Control: Monitor work to ensure adherence to quality standards and project drawings and specifications. Address any construction quality issues promptly and effectively. Approve necessary expenditures for the maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution: Identify and resolve on-site challenges and issues as they arise, including conflicts between team members, design issues, or delays in material delivery. Work closely with the project manager and design team to solve any technical or operational problems. Collaboration & Communication: Act as the primary field liaison between project teams, subcontractors, and senior leadership. Participate in weekly project review meetings and report on project status, including potential delays or issues that could impact the budget or timeline. Participate in project hand-off meetings to become familiar with project scope, budget, timelines and critical path items. Ensure that all team members are informed of changes in the schedule, safety guidelines, and other relevant information. Qualifications: Education: High School diploma. Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction management or supervision, with a proven track record on large-scale construction projects. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of sitework, foundations, structures, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building management systems. Strong understanding of construction means, methods, safety practices, and scheduling. Proficient in Procore or similar construction management software. Proficient in building project schedules. Certifications: OSHA 30 certification required; additional safety credentials preferred. Relevant certifications or training in construction management, safety, or other related areas preferred. Communication and Leadership Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to manage and organize resources. Experienced leader and team player, able to collaborate effectively with others. Strong problem-solving skills. Adaptable and flexible. Working Conditions: Primarily field-based with regular travel between active jobsites. Able and willing to travel to jobsites throughout Metro Atlanta; Columbus, GA area; Macon, GA area; potentially out of state. Meal per diem and lodging reimbursement provided if commuting to job site is not reasonable due to location, as agreed by direct supervisor. Office visits for coordination, planning, and executive reporting as needed. Physical ability to perform supervision tasks, including standing, climbing, and driving as needed. Willingness to be available during non-standard hours when necessary to coordinate staffing or for emergencies. Possess valid drivers license and good driving record. Ability to work in uncontrolled environments. Job site dress code requires steel toed shoes/boots, long pants, hard hat, and safety vest.
