Responsibilities

In the role of Construction Inspector I, we'll count on you to:

  • Inspect highways, roadways, and bridge construction activities
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction inspections, quality assurance inspections of bridge and transportation projects, including foundations, paving, earthwork
  • Coordinate with contractor, other inspectors, surveyors, and materials testers as well as documentation of the project progress
  • Be responsible for maintaining accurate daily reports of construction site activity, field measurements for progress payment
  • Produce required reports on progress, safety, quality, schedule, and budget status
  • Coordinate with others for documentation for contractor progress pay estimates
  • Perform calculations to support the technical aspects of the work including shoring, falsework and quantities
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical school, Associate degree, or BS in engineering
  • Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • 2 years' experience working in construction inspection and management on Caltrans and/or local transportation agency highway, roadway, and/or bridge projects required
  • Experience with Prolog, Primavera, etc. desired

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position is $52,000 - $75,000 and depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
