LOCATION - Reporting to the Resident Engineer at the LaGuardia Airport Resident Engineers Office
Office Hangar 5A.

SCOPE - Primarily airport and building concrete work, civil site work, paving work, and drainage
systems, hydrant fuel systems, structural, and maintenance of traffic, with some electrical,
environmental and plumbing knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS - Willingness to learn and ability to communicate effectively both orally and
in writing. Verbal communication includes speaking with the Resident Engineer, other contract
staff, and facility staff, both in person and via two-way communications. Ability to read and interpret
plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives
(work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price
work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep the Resident Engineer advised of potential
issues. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Ability to conduct
preconstruction and construction progress meetings, coordinate multiple work locations, perform
audit inspections throughout the construction process, and coordinate quality assurance inspections
of completed work. Ability to actively coordinate between private business entities at LGA and
the various departments within the facility. Verify safety procedures are maintained. Working
knowledge of NYCBC. Coordinate contractors' work with the Facility as needed.

A bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience inspecting construction work varying in size (projects
ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per
shift).
Aeronautical construction experience is desirable.
Valid Driver's license and ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance and LGA SIDA card.
Work Days: Monday to Friday, subject to change during paving season to align with
weekend work and contractors' work schedule. Ability to stay late or come in early as
needed. Regular day off and night work may fluctuate.
Trained in OSHA 30-hour construction safety.
ICC/NICET Level 3 Asphalt or Highway Construction; ACI Concrete Special Inspector;
and Work Zone Safety Certifications are desirable.
