Description: Join in the exciting role of providing a Construction Inspector to provide technical services for the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center, Miami FL. The inspector will provide comprehensive construction inspection support services to the VAMC Miami FM office for an upgrade to the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) infrastructure of the entire VAMC Miami, FL, campus. This position requires a construction background and computer proficiency. Construction QA experience is required.
Key Responsibilities: Performs field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used. Verifies quality of workmanship, quality of materials used, and compliance with plans, specifications, estimates, and applicable codes and regulations. Notes deficiencies and deviations from plans; refers serious problems and disagreements in interpretation to the Chief, Projects. Maintains, updates, and assures the accuracy of inspection records, project documentation, and project files. Prepare and submit detailed digital inspection reports, including photo documentation and proper formatting protocols Monitor the contractor's quality control and safety programs Participate in quality control meetings and safety oversight Monitors schedule and reports any potential delays Requirements
Education: Associates degree or graduate of an accredited Trade School or a formal construction apprenticeship program. Educational requirements may be substituted by 10 years of directly related experience. Professional Experience: 7 years of experience in construction inspection and contractor oversight activities associated with facilities (i.e., buildings, structures, equipment, systems, etc.) construction and implementation. Familiarity with handling RFI, change orders, submittal logs, etc. Field knowledge of safety, scheduling, and cost control is essential. Professional experience should also include the ability to read and interpret construction documents. Proficiency in Building and other codes and permitting requirements. Required Qualifications: NACI Clearance (or the ability to obtain it) Complete and pass complete a tuberculosis (TB) screening test within 90 days Strong analytical and communication skills Proficiency in computers and Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Department of Veterans Affairs projects and procedures Familiarity with quality control processes and reporting Experience in healthcare environments Experience in telecommunication construction
