General Description
JOIN OUR TEAM AS A CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR!

The role of construction inspector involves responsible inspection work in quality control of projects primarily in engineering, residential, commercial and right-of-way projects primarily in earthwork, drainage, and road construction to ensure compliance with all applicable County ordinances, Land Development Code, standards, and approved construction drawings.
Essential Job Functions
Confers with project engineers and contractors to ensure compliance with all applicable County Ordinances, Land Development Code, standards, plans, and specifications. Ensures that the engineer and/or contractor provides the required number and types of tests needed for the project and other required documents. Prepares daily written reports on all inspection activities and collects test reports forming a project file to be submitted to the supervisor for review. Investigates and prepares reports on citizen complaints that pertain to compliance with County ordinances and the Land Development Code. Provides site inspections. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required.

Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, and sitting. Works indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology OR graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and two (2) years experience in a responsible position with a contractor, engineer, or governmental entity performing construction inspection or related duties. One (1) year of college work in civil engineering preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.

Effective July 1, 2011, FRS members must contribute 3% of their salary as retirement contributions, on a pre-tax basis (the salary is reduced by the amount of the employee contribution before determining the federal income tax deduction).
