Our roadway projects range in variety from ADA sidewalk improvements to over $100 million in freeway expansion projects. Our team of construction inspectors work alongside our Area Engineer and the contractor to review construction procedures, ensure that the specifications are being followed and test materials. They work in a dynamic environment where every day is different! Our team gets to problem solve alongside contractors to keep major projects moving forward for the traveling public!

Construction Inspector I

B(18) $45,521.00 - $71,055.00

Construction Inspector II

B(19): $48,244.00 - $76,028.00

Position Description

Construction Inspector I and II : Inspects construction methods and workmanship to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges, traffic signals, airports and related structures in accordance with plans and specifications; acts as consultant regarding work progress and problem resolution; may serve as the only inspector on a construction project or assist in overseeing construction inspection activities for very large and/or complex projects within a district or conduct statewide construction inspection activities for ongoing airport improvement projects. Responsible to a licensed professional engineer who has full authority for approval of all work. Work requires contact with contractors. May perform material tests and manufacturing process inspections at fabrication sites. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Construction Inspector I and II: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.

Experience: CI I = no experience; CI II = 1 year experience

*Experience construction, construction inspection, engineering support, maintenance and repairs, materials or process inspection; or transportation engineering support related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis . Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle
