Observes and inspects public and private construction activities in the field to ensure that work is performed in accordance with the contract's technical plans, specifications, and City ordinances. Performs construction administration duties that include: preparation and review of pay estimates, writing correspondence, preparation of daily inspection reports, submittal reviews, preliminary negotiation of changes, and coordinates between City officials and contractors. Investigates construction sites in the extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) for county and city approvals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of surveying methods, techniques and related equipment. Knowledge of work being performed to ensure it is being done according to plans and to ensure work is installed according to contract document specifications. Ability to interpret blueprints, read and write legibly, and communicate with contractors. General knowledge of civil engineering construction practices. Ability to get along appropriately and professionally with co-workers and the public.
