Construction Inspector Professional

Davenergy is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector Professional to support ongoing federal construction projects at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System. The Construction Inspector will provide on-site inspection, construction management support, and contractor oversight to ensure compliance with design documents, safety standards, and government requirements across multiple phases of construction.
Requirements
- Conduct daily construction inspections of architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical systems to verify compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Identify and document construction deficiencies, unsafe conditions, code violations, or deviations from design documents.
- Monitor contractor work schedules and activities; identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Review and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change order proposals.
- Maintain complete and organized records of construction progress, including photographs, logs, and daily reports.
- Provide quality assurance oversight and support field commissioning activities.
- Participate in review of project risks, value engineering decisions, and scope modifications.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on construction status, risks, schedule adherence, and contractor performance.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and site safety protocols; complete required safety reporting.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of general construction practices, construction documentation, and inspection protocols.
- Experience interpreting and applying building codes, specifications, and construction industry standards.
- Proficient in handling submittals, RFIs, change orders, and document control procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document and present technical information clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with construction management tools such as Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, or similar platforms preferred.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and interface effectively with contractors, designers, and government representatives.
- Familiarity with safety requirements and risk identification on federal construction sites.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Associate's Degree, completion of a trade school program, or formal construction apprenticeship is required.
- In lieu of education, 14 years of directly related experience in construction inspection may be substituted.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction inspection and contractor oversight, including work on facility renovations or vertical construction projects.
- Must have completed a 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety course.
- Proficiency in reading construction drawings, specifications, and interpreting scope of work documents.
Communication, Language, and Software Skills
- Ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy.
- Ability to exercise good interpersonal skills.
