The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position
in the class of Construction Inspector at the Department of Community Services.
THE POSITION
Under direction, the Construction Inspector acts as resident engineer and/or inspector on a variety of public works improvement projects, (including streets, bridges, drainage structures, site improvements, pumping plants, sewers, water supply and distribution systems, street lighting, traffic signal facilities), to ensure compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, standards, plans and specifications. This position may directly supervise a small team of employees. The candidate selected for this position will assist in administering the County's encroachment permit program, including permit application processing, effective use of the County's permit processing software platform, fee assessment and collection, permit conditions assembly, permit issuance, and inspection.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications required for a candidate to proceed in the selection process are as follows:
- Education
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. - Experience
Five (5) years experience in general highway, street, and drainage construction as a contractor's foreman or superintendent, or as an inspector in these areas;
OR
Five (5) years increasingly responsible sub-professional office and field engineering work, at least two (2) years of which must have been at the Engineering Aide II level in Yolo County or equivalent, preferably including experience in a wide range of responsible related inspection activities. - License
Positions in this classification require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical or mental disability may request a reasonable accommodation.
