Job Description
The inspector will perform field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. This role requires effective communication with various stakeholders such as project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor representatives regarding construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection results. The inspector will transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis, as well as prepare and submit data and observation reports for daily transmittal. The role includes maintaining and cleaning equipment, vehicles, and work areas, and may involve assisting with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites. Adherence to strict safety standards is essential.
Responsibilities
- Perform testing, observation, and inspection according to training and specified procedures.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Conduct basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communicating and submitting to the Project Manager.
- Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
- Assist higher-level technicians on complex tasks.
- Maintain assigned equipment and ensure proper calibration.
- Follow safety rules and practices for all projects and perform pre-task planning.
- Report any safety issues or concerns to management.

- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent training and related experience.
- Proficiency in laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- ACI certification in areas such as Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I and Concrete Strength Testing Technician.
- Certification in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
- ICC certification in soils highly desired
- Other national, regional, state, and local materials-related certifications requiring experience and written examination.
The work environment involves fieldwork at construction sites with a focus on maintaining equipment and ensuring safety standards. The role demands adherence to safety protocols, proper use of technology such as laptops and software, and may involve varied shifts and travel to different sites. Appropriate attire and personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.
