Construction Lab Instructor
Program Area: Construction Skills & Management
Reports To: Administrative Staff, Construction Skills & Management Instructors
Employment Terms: Full Time
Salary: Per union contract
Experience: Minimum of 2000 hours within Construction Industry
Function: Teaching instructor of students within a lab setting, including facilitation and evaluation of learners within the lab learning environment enabling learner ability to attain educational goals.
Qualifications:
- Experience and/or education in a related construction field is required.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in a professional manner, with students, staff, parents and advisory board members.
- Experience working with students and students with special needs preferred.

- Instructs lab within construction program based on schedule needs.
- Establishes an environment conducive to learning in the classroom/laboratory by keeping areas clean, maintaining equipment in safe order, posting safety procedures, and establishing a safety program where applicable.
- Prepares for lab classes by selecting appropriate learning experiences as evidenced by the following: updating instructional materials such as handouts, ordering supplies and equipment, reproducing of materials, and using a variety of learning modalities including instructional technology to augment instruction.
- Follows course content, which is current, well organized, and related to course objectives and to student's previous learning.
- Demonstrates knowledge of instructional and student services policies and procedures as described in the student handbook, Construction course syllabus.
- Submits/updates all paperwork and required reports on time.
- Maintains credentials, licensure, and certifications required for teaching and for the profession.
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Maintains control of class during instruction as well as handles disruptions in the lab setting.
- Demonstrates respect for students as individuals
- Evaluates student lab performance using the designated tools for the course.
- Follows program procedure for lab remediation.
- Maintains open communication with program area instructors.
- Communicates students' lab progress, concerns, and absences to the theory instructor in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates accessibility in dealing with students' needs both individually and as a group.
- Demonstrates excellence in instructor performance as reflected by the majority of positive responses on instructor/ course evaluations.
- Performs other related duties accompanying the position.
