Position Description
RIVUS is seeking a qualified and experienced Construction Manager/Project Representative to join our team on a full-time basis to support the construction of water quality/waterway improvement projects such as stream bank stabilization using natural channel design to achieve pollutant reduction and ecological restoration. Projects also include drainage outfall repair and channel stabilization and stormwater best management practices. As a Resident Engineer/ Project Representative, you will serve as the Owners Agent and be responsible for overseeing construction projects and ensuring that they are completed in accordance with design plans, specifications, standards, codes, and permits.
Key Responsibilities
Observe construction, and perform coordination, documentation, and oversee inspectors
Lead construction project meetings, preconstruction conferences, progress meetings, and prepare and circulate meeting minutes.
Coordinate collaboratively with multi-discipline design teams, owner, contractor, regulatory agency inspectors, and third-party inspection/testing firms.
Research and provide solutions to engineering and construction issues in a timely manner.
Participate in all aspects of change management including review and analysis of claims, negotiation of potential change orders, performing independent cost estimates, maintaining change management logs, and prepare change order documentation.
Review and interpret project specifications and drawings.
Perform constructability reviews of design documents.
Manage and prepare or oversee daily reports by others, verify material quantities, review payment applications, and prepare project correspondence/reports.
Analyze contractors Critical Path Method (CPM) monthly progress schedule updates.
Lead and support a team of inspectors.
Maintain red-line drawings and coordinate project as-builts as part of project close-out.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. or Associate degree in a civil engineering, natural resource science, and/or construction management preferred.
Professional engineering license (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification is preferred but not required.
10+ years of experience in construction management or engineering, with experience in the stream bank stabilization, outfall repair and channel stabilization, and stormwater best management practices
Training in forest, wetland, and/or stream assessment preferred.
Familiarity with construction methods typical of civil engineering, ecological restoration, and construction materials testing.
Familiarity with Primavera P6 and/or CM14 is preferred.
Able to easily move around active construction site safely and effectively.
Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Agency coordination and permitting experience, preferred but not required.
Willing to travel and stay local to projects as needed.
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel locally.
