General Kinematics Corporation is currently looking for a qualified Construction Manager . The Construction Manager role will oversee both new construction and installation projects, ensuring proper coordination and alignment with project goals. They provide direction to contractors and vendors to maintain quality standards during groundwork. Additionally, construction managers collaborate with project manager, engineers, and sales managing estimates, budgets, timetables, and resources. They identify and address recurring construction issues while adhering to legal regulations, building codes, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities / Duties
· Visit sites regularly during construction — including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress visits, overseeing installation and commissioning, punch walks, and closeouts — and attend status and coordination meetings.
· Conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring that the work environment is acceptable, and that tools and equipment are in good working condition.
· Maintain and update statement of work (SOW) and preconstruction documents and meet contract obligations, by developing relationships with reliable contractors and vendors.
· Respond efficiently and effectively to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptions.
· Serve as the point of contact, on designated projects, for project management, contractors, and outside vendors.
· Communicate, monitor, and track change orders onsite, as they develop.
· Responsible for working with project management to keep a project’s performance on track (Scope, Schedule, Cost), specifically analyzing short-and long-term goals.
· Request and secure current pricing for outside bids to be used within active customer orders.
· Request and secure pricing for outside bids to be used within the quoting process.
· Assist with development of a roster of suppliers and contractors.
· When applicable, attend the “Project with Issues” meeting to serve as the customer’s liaison.
· When applicable, attend the “Project with Issues” meeting and work with internal stake holders, to determine root cause designation and lessons learned for the company.
· Respond to inquiries about current contract sales projects within the Company.
· Maintain weekly communication with production, engineering, and sales departments, with updates to ensure proper adherence to established timelines and objectives.
· Assist in developing best practices goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
· Track budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
· The ability to troubleshoot, resolve problems and make independent decisions, after identifying and analyzing problems logically and comprehensively.
· Document and report any safety concerns as it relates to the installation and the operation of our equipment.
· Collaborate with the Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering departments.
· Comply with the company’s ISO objectives, policies, & procedures.
· The willingness and physical ability to work on our equipment which can include climbing ladders, crawling under objects, and working in harsh conditions/jobsites.
· To understand basic business concepts and the ability to respond to customer requests.
· The willingness to work from existing policies and procedures and the ability to build technical knowledge.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, with a proven track record of successfully overseeing complex construction projects.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials, with expertise in the industrial construction sector being a plus.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Proficiency in construction management software and tools, as well as MS Office Suite.
OSHA certification (10 or 30) and familiarity with safety regulations and best practices.
Flexibility to travel occasionally and work extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
Pay/Benefits:
Pay: $80,000 to $100,000 paid annually. The range provided is a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors that are involved in offer decisions include, and are not limited to a candidate’s experience, qualifications, geography, and internal equity.
