Summary:
Oversee all aspects of field activities and construction management on civil or vertical building construction, and facility renovation contracts. The Construction Manager's responsibilities include managing and driving project initiatives, managing medium to complex field construction sites, overseeing subcontractor compliance, project scheduling, crew scheduling, and management, cost controls, sustaining and expanding services, correspondence, and coordination with home office, clients, and other stakeholders. The Construction Manager should be an independent, self-motivated professional experienced in managing large, complex construction projects and environmental remediation projects and have a desire to grow professionally with each challenging project.
The salary range for this position is $119,919-$175,542/year, please note this is a tiered position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
Participates in the planning and formulation of design alternatives and solutions for construction projects, provides conceptual estimates, feasibility studies, and cost estimates, and may coordinate the production of basic design plans and construction documents
Develops and administers project budgets and fiscal controls, contracts, and quality control provisions
Determine staffing needs for assigned projects, working with the technical team to assign necessary resources using both internal and external resource pools
Performs project cost estimating, project specifications, and value engineering as appropriate
Oversees all aspects of day-to-day management construction projects; monitors and coordinates work performed by Field personnel and subcontractors
Interpret construction drawings and communicate construction requirements to the site construction superintendent and crew
Reviews and interprets proposed designs, architectural drawings, and building specifications to institutional standards and initiates revisions where appropriate
Prepares schedules and job mobilization for field teams
Ensures that project operations are in compliance with design specifications and with state and federal policies and regulations
Address management, technical, or administrative issues that arise during field operations to ensure project objectives are met
Authorizes the issuance of contracts, purchase orders, change orders and approves contractor invoices for payment
Inspects, approves and accepts completed projects, ensuring conformance with building and life safety codes and architectural/engineering specifications
Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and security processes
Perform any other duties as assigned by management
Level Specific Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)
Construction Manager Expect to lead projects with construction scope below $10M
Construction Manager Sr. Expect to lead projects with a construction scope above $10M
Provide technical support to multiple project managers on multiple projects
Minimum Qualifications:
All levels: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
Experience may be substituted for education on a 1:1 basis
Experience managing multiple task orders and/or contracts
Experience Estimating and executing Design/Build and Bid Build Projects
Strong knowledge of and ability to administer and enforce local, state, and federal safety laws and regulations, including OSHA and EM 385, as well as contractual requirements pertaining to the construction site
Ability to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g., DOD, DHS, FAA, etc.) to obtain security access badges
United States Citizen or Permanent Resident
Valid driver's license and ability to be covered under company vehicle policy
Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities
Construction Manager Seven (7) to nine (9) years of experience in construction management, environmental remediation, or engineering
Three (3) years managing projects of $1M or more
Construction Manager Sr. Ten (10) or more years of experience in construction management, environmental remediation, or engineering
Five (5) years managing projects of $10M or more
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in HCSS, Primavera (P6), Procore, Timberline Estimating Software, Blu Beam OST
Fifteen (15) or more years of prior experience in construction management
Experience managing $15 million-dollar projects
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and databases such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
Experience working in remote arctic conditions

Working Environment: May be indoors or outdoors, subject to confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels.
Physical Demands (including but not limited to): Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components.
Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours.
Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, such as BMPs, equipment, and other materials.
