CMT Lab Supervisor (Onsite)

Specifically, we’re seeking a laboratory supervisor to oversee a construction materials testing lab in West Memphis, AR. We need a detail-oriented, experienced candidate to produce the necessary laboratory testing, data management, and record keeping our geotechnical and construction services groups require.
We’re seeking someone who can navigate the rigors of obtaining and maintaining lab accreditation while complying with all applicable ASTM and AASHTO standards. Responsibilities:
- Develop skills required to conduct specialized laboratory testing.
- Obtaining certifications from the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), state departments of transportation, and others.
- Perform testing according to American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) standards during on site assessments and the proficiency sampling program (PSP).
- Demonstrate compliance with all required safety protocols within a laboratory setting.
- Compile accurate and detailed data, reports, and laboratory analyses.
- Perform calculations using basic math skills.
- Validate and use computerized equipment and its associated software to perform various laboratory tests.
- Conduct and maintain routine calibrations of laboratory instruments and testing equipment according to manufacturer's instructions, company policies, and relevant ASTM and/or AASHTO standards.
- Manage laboratory technicians
- Assist with training and professional development of new laboratory or field employees.
- Obtain and maintain laboratory accreditation with AASHTO resource and CCRL.
Requirements:
- Education OR Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field OR
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience performing laboratory testing for soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt PLUS at least one of the following certifications:
- ACI Aggregate Base
- ACI Strength
- NICET Level I/2
- ICC Soils
- DOT Soils
- Detail-oriented and organized with electronic information and physical samples
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Word, Excel, & Outlook
- Experience in Bentley gINT and similar data managements software packages (training will be provided for other laboratory- and field-specific software).
- Communicate clearly, quickly and professionally, orally and in writing both internally to colleagues and externally to clients.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of laboratory analyses, reports, and field/lab notes.
- Work additional hours and weekends to complete tasks on or ahead of schedule.
- Keep work areas orderly and assigned equipment and vehicles clean and in good working order.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance along with polite and respectful behavior.
- Able to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
