We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Permit Coordinator to join our team.Position Summary: The Construction Permit Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating all permitting activities related to construction projects within the petroleum pump and tank industry. This role ensures that all necessary permits, licenses, and approvals are obtained in a timely manner to support project schedules and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The coordinator acts as a liaison between project managers, engineers, contractors, and permitting agencies to facilitate smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare, submit, and track all permit applications required for petroleum pump and tank construction projects, including building, environmental, fire marshal, DOT, and other applicable permits.
Serve as the primary point of contact with city, county, and state permitting authorities, ensuring clear communication and timely responses to inquiries or requests for additional information.
Maintain accurate records of all permitting activities, documentation, and approvals for each project.
Monitor the progress of submitted permits to ensure approvals are secured within project timelines, escalating delays or issues to project management as needed.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure permit requirements are fully understood and incorporated into project plans.
Research and stay current on permitting regulations, codes, and industry standards specific to petroleum fueling system construction.
Assist in preparing compliance reports and documentation for environmental and safety standards related to petroleum storage tanks and fueling systems.
Support the project close-out process by ensuring all final inspections and sign-offs are completed.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies to streamline future permitting efforts.
Handle insurance submittals.
Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
Experience:
2+ years of permitting coordination, project administration, or related experience, preferably in the petroleum fueling, construction, or environmental services industry.
Familiarity with permitting processes for petroleum storage tanks, fueling systems, and environmental compliance highly desired.
CAD experience is preferred, but not required.
Skills:
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple permits/projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with regulatory agencies and internal teams.
Detail-oriented with strong follow-up skills to ensure deadlines are met.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management software.
Ability to read and understand construction plans, technical drawings, and site layouts is a plus.
Physical Requirements: May require occasional travel to project sites or government offices.
Must be able to sit, stand, and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
