Job Description
A well-established and respected construction-related organization is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to oversee project-specific accounting and job cost functions. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial tracking, billing, and reporting for construction projects, while maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate will bring construction project accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and a proactive communication style that supports project teams in achieving profitable, well-managed outcomes.
Responsibilities
  • Manage contract values, cost budgets, and change orders in the accounting system.
  • Review and approve project-related invoices; ensure accurate coding of revenue and expenses.
  • Handle project invoicing for various contract types and resolve unbilled job discrepancies.
  • Monitor collections, track cash positions, and prepare profitability and WIP reports.
  • Obtain lien waivers/releases, conduct audits, and close out projects with final reconciliations.
  • Act as liaison between internal project teams and external partners to support successful project execution.
  • Participate in meetings and drive process improvements.
  • Background in production agriculture is a plus, not preferred
Qualifications and Strengths
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong expertise in Excel.
  • Proven experience managing the full cycle of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project/job cost accounting.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong numerical aptitude with a solid understanding of core accounting principles.
  • Clear and professional communicator, both verbally and in writing.
