In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our team in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of construction projects. This hands-on role involves assisting with the transportation of tools, materials, and equipment between job sites, suppliers, and the main office. The ideal candidate will help maintain a clean and organized jobsite, support skilled tradespeople and Project Managers with basic tasks, and run errands as needed.
Strong communication skills, the ability to follow directions accurately, and a commitment to safety protocols are essential. This position is ideal for someone who is proactive, dependable, and eager to contribute to a collaborative construction environment.
We are seeking a reliable and energetic Construction Project Assistant to assist our field team with day-to-day support activities. This is a entry-level position that helps keep operations running smoothly by handling material pickups, deliveries, and various on-site tasks.
Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities will also include:
- Pick up and deliver tools, materials, and equipment between job sites, suppliers, and the main office
- Assist with loading and unloading supplies
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the jobsite
- Run errands as needed
- Support skilled tradespeople and Project Managers with basic tasks
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and follow instructions accurately
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times
Supervisory responsibilities will include:
- This role does not include direct supervisory duties but does require cross-functional collaboration and informal leadership through accountability, support, and follow-through.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to completing tasks efficiently.
- Ability to lift, carry, load, and unload heavy materials and equipment.
- Familiarity with tools, materials, and construction site operations is a plus.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization on job sites and follows instructions precisely.
- Able to clearly communicate with supervisors, tradespeople, and team members.
- Capable of prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively while handling multiple responsibilities.
- Willing to support others and contribute to the overall success of the project.
- Able to think on your feet and adapt to changing needs and priorities.
- Understands and follows all safety protocols to ensure a secure work environment.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in construction or a related field preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials is an asset.
- Experience operating light-duty vehicles or trucks is a plus.
- Familiarity with safety standards and practices on construction sites preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, including navigating active construction sites
- Frequent walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and occasional use of ladders
- Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or equipment up to 25-50 pounds
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for writing, typing, and handling documents or electronic devices
- Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via electronic communication
- Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching to inspect project details
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when necessary
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
