Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Project Manager / Engineer with proven leadership abilities and a strong work ethic to oversee the delivery of complex heavy civil construction projects. This individual will play a key role in managing all phases of project development-from pre-construction planning to final project closeout-ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage large-scale heavy civil, highway, and bridge projects from planning through completion Coordinate with superintendents, engineers, and field staff to develop and execute project strategies Monitor all aspects of project performance, including schedule, budget, staffing, logistics, and quality Conduct regular job cost updates, forecasting, and financial tracking to meet profitability goals Oversee procurement and contract management of subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers Manage submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and project documentation to ensure timely approvals and responses Resolve technical challenges and field issues through collaboration with engineering and construction teams Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and quality control requirements Lead project closeout processes, including punch list, commissioning, and turnover documentation Foster a team-oriented environment, providing leadership and mentorship to project staff Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field Minimum of 8 years of project management experience in heavy civil construction Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project sequencing, and field operations Ability to manage union subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades effectively Demonstrated experience with project estimating, scheduling, and cost control Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills High level of initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Preferred: Experience with HCSS HeavyJob, P6, and SmartBuild software U.S. Citizenship and valid driver's license required Preferred Experience: Marine construction Bridge and infrastructure projects Coordinating with DOT or other public agencies Additional Attributes for Success: Adaptable and collaborative with a positive, solutions-focused mindset Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities Committed to high standards of safety, quality, and project execution Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
