Construction Safety Officer
Safety Management- Construction Safety Professional
Our client is actively seeking an experienced Construction Safety Professional for EITHER a full-time or part-time (25-30 hours a week) position to oversee safety management within a construction company environment. This role will ensure that company construction sites are safe for employees by developing and enforcing safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expertise in construction safety
Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to maintain safety standards
Collaborate with project teams to foster a positive safety culture
Prepare safety performance reports for management
Assists in the development and maintenance of Safety Programs and procedures company wide.
Lead the organization in risk management and promote safety stewardship at all levels of the organization
Provide proactive leadership in matters of safety
Accountable to ensure compliance with all state and federal safety requirements
Coordinate and/or deliver all safety training including OSHA required, annual refresher, new hire orientation, safety leadership, and weekly toolbox talks
Conduct accident investigations, complete root cause analysis, and implement proactive safety practices to reduce risk
Be the subject matter expert in OSHA requirements for construction
Lead interactions with OSHA including response to inquiries and on-site visits
Provide safety training for construction workers, including onboarding and refreshers
Perform site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety standards
Document and report on safety incidents
Interact with government officials, clients, and vendors to establish safety parameters
Write and maintain detailed reports about safety incidents
Qualifications
Approximately four (4) or more years of construction safety experience
Proficiency in managing construction projects
Either has First Aid/CPR training or is willing to obtain certification
Safety experience within a MEP construction setting a plus (mechanical, electrical, or plumbing)
Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and influence effectively
High school diploma/general equivalency diploma, required
Excellent focus, attention to detail and ability to multitask
Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite)
Must have a valid driver’s license
