The Construction Field Coordinator supports the Lima Refinery construction project team on a 12-month contract assignment , providing oversight and coordination across all stages of the work, with the following key responsibilities: Construction and Project Management: Participate in project execution planning activities (design reviews, model review, Construction Work Package preparation, construction sequence planning, Contractor Log, systems turnover, etc.) as needed. Pre-Mobilization Work: Develop bid requisitions in collaboration with the Construction Manager and Project Engineer. Prepare technical bid documents and participate in contractor bid evaluations. Develop and maintain performance (quantity installed) verification tools. Execution: Monitor contractor performance against contractual requirements (safety, quality, cost, schedule, change management), identifying variances and recommending mitigations in daily reporting. Assist contractors and engineering with material issues, shortages, or discrepancies. Maintain accurate records of construction metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including field quantity surveys and performance factor tracking. Post Execution: Participate in contractor close-out activities and lessons learned meetings. Safety: Actively participate in company safety initiatives and ensure adherence to the Safety Management System. Wear required PPE at all times. Conduct and participate in field hazard assessments and risk assessments. Take part in mentorship and competency programs. Observe and mentor team members on safe work practices. Understand, comply with, and communicate OSHA regulations. Quality: Ensure compliance with project specifications and quality requirements. Create, maintain, and manage the Master Deficiency List (MDL). Manage project turnovers in accordance with established turnover processes. Schedule: Contribute to the development, implementation, and tracking of master project schedules. Verify contractor progress and performance, reporting findings and potential mitigations to leadership. Cost: Review contractor reporting to confirm the accuracy of actuals and forecasts. Participate in monthly accrual processes. Change Management: Identify and address risks related to contractors and Construction Work Packages. Review and recommend solutions for technical issues. Review, process, and communicate contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), Field Change Notices (FCNs), and Requests for Clarification (RFCs). Communication / Reporting: Identify and communicate risks related to safety, quality, cost, and schedule. Provide progress, risk, and look-ahead reports, participating in related meetings. Maintain regular communication with internal team members and external stakeholders (e.g., engineering partners). Other: Participate actively in toolbox, coordination, and communication meetings. Maintain a daily journal/log to capture key conversations and information. Qualifications: Associate degree in mechanical engineering technology (minimum). At least 5+ years of experience in a field role on large industrial construction projects. Formal health and safety training is considered an asset. Additional Details: 12-month contract assignment. Preference for local candidates, though non-local candidates may be eligible for $151/day per diem and travel expenses (economy airfare or mileage at IRS rate). Work schedule: Initially 5×8-hour days with 2 days off per week; will transition to 4×10-hour days with 3 days off as the project schedule advances. Travel required.
