FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Full Time
Pay Grade: $21-31.50/hr (DOE)
General Description: We are seeking a reliable and experienced Construction Skilled Laborer to join our team in Blaine, WA. This individual will serve as the "boots on the ground" for our construction site, working closely with the Site Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure smooth daily operations. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of construction practices, safety protocols, and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general and skilled labor tasks including carpentry, equipment operation, and site maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Operate basic construction equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Act as an Assistant Superintendent when needed, helping to coordinate tasks and communicate with subcontractors and team members.
- Follow and enforce site safety protocols and OSHA standards.
- Take direction from the Site Superintendent and Project Manager, executing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Serve as a liaison between field workers and management when the Superintendent is unavailable.
- Support various aspects of the construction process, ensuring that small but critical tasks are completed on time.
Required Skills & Education:
- Proven experience in construction labor, with carpentry skills preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction site operations and safety standards.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with team members and supervisors.
- Willingness to perform a variety of tasks, including site cleanup and equipment handling.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently when required.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Ability to successfully pass and remain in compliance with required background checks from Tribal 1 and any required federal government background checks.
- Competent with MS Office products (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Must pass drug screen and remain in compliance with drug free workplace policies.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements (as required by OSHA and ADA):
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including heights, confined spaces and outdoor settings.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are necessary Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps.
- Can access roofs, crawl spaces and all construction areas.
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling, walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Must be able to occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and is frequently required to walk.
- Hearing sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
