Job Description

1. Project Coordination & Oversight

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the construction site.
  • Ensure that the project is progressing according to schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Enforce safety standards and compliance with local regulations and codes.
  • Ensure quality control across all work performed.

2. Team Management

  • Supervise and lead on-site construction crews and subcontractors.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to workers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure effective communication among all project stakeholders (team members, project managers, clients, etc.).

3. Scheduling & Planning

  • Develop and maintain the project schedule, ensuring all phases of construction are completed on time.
  • Monitor work progress and adjust schedules as needed to resolve delays or conflicts.
  • Plan and coordinate the sequencing of tasks to optimize efficiency.

4. Quality Control

  • Review work to ensure it meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Address any construction defects or issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks.

5. Safety Management

  • Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
  • Monitor worksite conditions for potential hazards and mitigate risks.

6. Budget & Cost Control

  • Assist with managing the project budget by tracking costs and ensuring that expenses are within the approved limits.
  • Report on the financial status of the project to project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Approve and process invoices for subcontractors and suppliers.

7. Communication & Reporting

  • Act as the main point of contact between the office and the job site.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the project manager, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Resolve any on-site issues or conflicts promptly and professionally.

8. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project activities, including daily logs, schedules, and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and building codes.
  • Coordinate and manage permit inspections and approvals.

9. Problem Solving & Decision Making

  • Identify issues that may arise during construction and develop solutions to resolve them quickly.
  • Make decisions that ensure work progresses smoothly and efficiently.

10. Final Inspection & Project Closeout

  • Ensure that the completed project meets all contract specifications and client expectations.
  • Oversee the final inspection and punch list items to ensure any outstanding issues are addressed.
  • Assist with the turnover of the project to the client or owner, ensuring all documentation and warranties are in place.

The Successful Applicant

Qualifications Include:

  • 7+ years of previous relevant experience as a Construction Site Superintendent with a Commercial General Contractor
  • a Bachelor's Degree in a construction-related field preferred
  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • willingness to learn and desire to be successful
