The Commercial Construction Superintendent specializing in healthcare and medical projects is responsible for overseeing all phases of construction for hospitals, medical clinics, and other healthcare facilities. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory and quality standards unique to healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise all on-site construction activities from pre-construction through project completion, including sitework, facility construction, and closeout.
Coordinate and manage subcontractors and trades (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc.), ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and healthcare-specific standards.
Implement and enforce safety protocols and infection control measures, complying with OSHA and healthcare regulations.
Develop, maintain, and update project schedules, ensuring milestone and deadline adherence.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor quality, progress, and compliance with plans and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, inspectors, and stakeholders to resolve issues and optimize construction methods.
Manage project documentation, including safety records, progress reports, and as-built drawings.
Control project costs, budgets, and resource allocation, identifying and mitigating risks or delays.
Communicate regularly with clients, owners, and internal teams, providing updates and addressing concerns.
Plan and coordinate logistics for site access, deliveries, and installation of modular or permanent structures.
Ensure compliance with infection control, noise, dust, and interim life safety measures specific to active healthcare environments.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years of superintendent experience in commercial construction, with a strong focus on healthcare or medical projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field ; equivalent experience considered.
Extensive knowledge of healthcare construction requirements, including infection control, regulatory compliance, and safety standards.
Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to direct diverse teams and foster a culture of safety and quality.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities, adept at stakeholder coordination and conflict resolution.
Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools.
Certifications such as OSHA 30 are highly desirable.
