Construction Superintendent
The Construction Superintendent provides on-site leadership and coordination for all phases of commercial or residential construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment. They ensure that specifications are strictly followed, and work proceeds safely and according to the established schedule and budget. The role involves responsibility for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety. The Superintendent often provides leadership to field employees such as Laborers, Field Engineers, and Assistant Superintendents.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain the master project schedule in conjunction with the project team.
- Prepare a detailed two-week look-ahead schedule reflecting daily goals and labor activities to support the overall project schedule.
- Conduct subcontractor pre-construction meetings with each major subcontractor using standard templates for the agenda.
- Proactively schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in the critical path to ensure timely completion.
- Ensure subcontractors fully execute and comply with the contracted scope of work for both schedule and quality control.
- Collaborate with the Safety Department and adhere to the company's safety policy and required documentation.
- Create a job site-specific safety plan and attend monthly safety meetings.
- Coordinate and monitor daily job site activities of subcontractors and the owner's vendors, assisting in future planning.
- Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed in accordance with project documents and submittals.
- Inspect and track material deliveries and installation details to meet project documents, including approved submittals.
- Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors regarding quality of work or scheduling.
- Ensure the job site is always kept clean and organized.
- Maintain a daily log and upload photos of activities on the job site.
- Identify conflicts in construction documents and address them with appropriate parties or communicate with senior project leadership.
- Run weekly subcontractor pre-construction meetings and attend quarterly meetings.
- Prepare RFIs to be formally submitted by the Project Manager.
Essential Skills
- Expertise in construction management and safety.
- Proficiency in coordinating commercial construction projects.
- Strong leadership skills for managing field employees.
- Experience with general contracting and OSHA regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 7+ years of commercial construction experience in a construction management or similar position.
- Knowledge of all construction trades.
Work Environment
This position is on-site, working in a $50 million flex warehouse space with site work and three core/shell buildings. The construction environment involves tilt-up construction methods.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
