Construction Supervisor

The Opportunity Construction Supervisor at a growth-oriented energy company. Reporting to the Project Engineering Supervisor, plan, coordinate, and oversee refinery construction activities. Ensure compliance with safety standards, engineering specifications, schedules, and budget requirements. Act as the primary liaison between construction crews, engineering teams, contractors, and refinery operations to ensure seamless project execution. Oversee 20 to 30 tradesmen across six different trades, including civil, structural, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and insulation disciplines to help execute an annual capital construction budget of approximately $12 to $15 million, playing a critical role in delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key activities include:

  • Coordinate daily construction activities and act as the main point of contact for site contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to a diverse team of 20-30 tradesmen from multiple disciplines, ensuring efficient and coordinated execution of construction tasks.
  • Ensure construction work aligns with project plans, refinery standards, and safety procedures.
  • Monitor progress against schedule and provide regular updates to the Project Engineering Supervisor and Project Lead.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Assist in resolving field issues by coordinating with engineering, procurement, and operations teams.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, site-specific safety protocols, and environmental policies.
  • Manage construction documentation including work permits, inspection logs, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and assist in the development of construction schedules and resource planning.
  • Support commissioning and turnover activities as needed.
  • Contribute to the management and execution of a $12-15 million annual capital construction portfolio.

Qualifications:

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.   • Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, not always required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction coordination or supervision in a refinery or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of refinery safety practices and construction standards.
  • Familiarity with piping, structural steel, civil works, and electrical/instrumentation installations.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and construction reporting.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and P&IDs.
  • TWIC will be required.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed primarily on-site at a refinery construction project. Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to strict safety protocols. May involve climbing, walking long distances, and exposure to weather conditions. Schedule is 9/80; extended hours and weekends may be required during peak phases.
