Closing Date: Open until filled POSITION OVERVIEW: Cook (Part Time) - Portland High

Got a passion for cooking? Want to help feed students every day? How does a Monday through Friday schedule sound? Even better, no nights, no weekends? We have a cook position available for you. This school-year position is currently at Portland High School, 30 hours a week, Monday through Friday, with a tentative schedule of 6:30 am-12:30 pm (0.75 FTE). Flexibility in work hours and work location will be required to meet the current and future needs of the Food Service Department.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Be able to plan, prepare, and cook meals at Portland High School Maintain a safe facility for the performance of work Assist with monthly inventory Coordinate with co-workers in daily production responsibilities Communicate effectively with Managers, Team Leaders, other employees, school staff, administration, and parents Perform other related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of foods and their preparation, large quantity recipes, operations and the care of kitchen equipment, local and state health sanitation requirements Ability to learn and perform all aspects of the Team Leader II position and assume those responsibilities in their absence Excellent culinary, communication, math, and computer skills EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent [Preferred] Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in large quantity cooking preferred [Preferred] Degree in culinary arts preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sufficiently good physical condition, with the ability to work long hours while standing Must be capable of lifting at least 50 pounds CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization (more info) Pass and maintain ServSafe Manager certification within 6 months of employment EMPLOYMENT DETAILS: School-year position Permanent Part Time, 0.75 FTE Eligible for overtime
