Does that sound like you? The Opportunity with McKinstry We are adding an Operations Director to join our growing Data Center Innovations business unit in Austin, TX. In this role you will lead, at an operational level, all aspects of offsite manufacturing operations, providing customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and profitable outcomes. You will collaborate closely with business development efforts, operations, and other business units to successfully win and execute work that aligns with McKinstry capabilities and business plans. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include: Leading teams Hire, coach, and performance manage team members consistent with McKinstry values Schedule and host the monthly Operations Management Meeting w/ focus on training team members Be an integral part of monthly Operation Reviews and Plan Presentations Be an active participant/presenter in the All-Hands Meeting Operations management Participate with Business Unit Manager in monthly department forecasting, annual planning, and department monthly meeting Manage proactive staffing which compares project and assignments to a roster of resources Take responsibility for proactive view of upcoming work and communicating that to all of the interested downstream partners Take responsibility for ensuring that the Critical Processes from the PLC and Navigator are being done on all projects (including coach, guide and mentor around this content) Coordinate and drive activities across safety, supply chain, quality, plant operations, project/program management, and business development functions. Improve efficiency, reduce re-work, and prevent write-downs by evaluating processes and work-in-progress against expected production rates with plant managers to uncover opportunities to streamline and reduce wasted time and materials Work with project managers and sales to schedule manpower requirements based on forecasts, budget, scope, job schedule Confirm manpower needs are being met for all projects and communicate impacts to PM’s Work with supply chain to schedule and receive materials and equipment procurement based on project and order forecast/backlog Ensure that project and operations staff are following set procedures when acquiring personnel for jobs Manage plant manager communications about project status to the PM’s Make sure manufacturing operations are performing in budgeted labor hours through published manpower plans Create a way to track plant and operations personnel performance Ensure we execute professional high-quality production for all programs Work with logistics to make sure storage and deliveries meet standards, schedule, and contractual requirements Keep track of union contracts and how it affects the business Attend union labor committee meetings as needed Work with the plant managers and trade superintendents to determine qualifications and training needs Hold operations personnel accountable for deadlines Work with plant managers and trade superintendents to keep crew sizes at the correct level and labor mix for department project execution Set-up vendor training and certification for specific products and equipment Work with safety dept. to manage safety training and implementation Manage trade communication with internal/external customers when manpower needs to be shifted Influence project assignment of manufacturing staff geographically to minimize travel Develop and utilize tools to communicate with plant managers about upcoming workload Develop and retain talented staff Educate and critique staff when required information is incomplete or incorrect Work with Project Managers and Plant Managers to organize and schedule post production analysis when product runs are completed, or as needed to correct inefficiencies Sales & business development support Available to sales/estimating for manpower options and strategies Participate in Program and Bid Reviews to provide constructability/manufacturability review and ensure sound estimating practices Attend client meetings, interviews and events as needed Take on pursuits and budgeting exercises as assigned Partner with the sales team, other department leaders, operations managers and CSU resource What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience 10+ years of industry experience 7+ years of project management experience 7+ years of experience leading people with a high standard of excellence Strong business acumen Proficient in forecasting and managing cost types PeopleFirst Benefits When it comes to the basics, we have you covered: Competitive pay 401(k) with employer match and profit-sharing plan Paid time off and holidays Comprehensive medical, prescription, dental, and vision with low or zero deductible options and low out of pocket maximums People come first at McKinstry, and we go beyond the basic benefits with: Family formation benefits, including adoption and IVF assistance Up to 16 weeks paid parental leave Transgender inclusive benefits Commuter benefits Pet insurance “Building Good” paid community service time Learning and advancement opportunities via McKinstry University McKinstry Moves onsite gyms or reimbursement for remote workers See benefit plan documents for complete details. The pay range for this position is $134,730-$215,550 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
