Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedules and performs onsite inspections of utilities, roadways and structures. Ensures projects comply with Town regulations. Completes daily inspection reports summarizing findings and activities.
- Communicates orally and in writing with developers, contractors and consulting engineers regarding inspections findings and project progress. Addresses areas of concern and suggests possible resolutions.
- Approves minor field changes that won't adversely affect the overall project design, structure, timeframe or easement/right-of-way.
- Conducts pre-construction meetings and attends weekly project meetings with developers and contractors.
- Reviews construction plans, drawings and designs.
- Performs and oversees required sampling and testing which may include water quality sampling and testing and sanitary/water line pressure testing.
- Facilitate conveyance and acceptance process.
- Coordinates plan review, permitting and utilities service with other Town departments.
- Communicates with citizens, homeowners and homeowners associations regarding construction that may impact them. Answers questions and responds to complaints.
- Tracks project surety/bonds and contractor/developer performance.
- This position is part of the Town's snow removal program. Will have scheduled on-call responsibilities through the winter months to remove snow using a 4-wheel drive pickup and/or heavy equipment. Snow removal shifts are typically 12 hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
CUSTOMER SERVICE/COMMUNICATION:

Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Construction Inspector:
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent
Experience: Two - three (2-3) years' closely related construction experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
- Valid Colorado Driver's License
Sr. Constuction Inspector:
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent
Experience: At least five (5) years' closely related construction experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
- Valid Colorado Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Colorado Wastewater 1 Collections Certification
- Colorado Distribution 1 Certification
- LabCAT APM Asphalt Certification
- OSHA Occupational Safety Training
- Two - three (2-3) years' experience locating/site surveying or comparable related experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of construction standards.
- Ability to interpret Town regulations and determine if projects are in compliance.
- Skill in communicating potentially controversial findings with developers, engineers and contractors.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to read plans, drawings and designs.
- Ability to physically access construction sites in all weather conditions for performance of inspections.
Physical Demands
- Moderate physical work to include lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects and materials up to 25 pounds
- Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting
- Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles
- Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment:
- Works outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions
- Regular exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals
Equipment Used:
- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
