Who We Are Looking For :
Reporting to the VP, Human Resources - Safety & Infrastructure (North America) out of Atkore’s Addison, IL facility, the Director, Human Resources – Construction Services & N.A.M.F. will be responsible for delivering business results through human resources best practices and process management.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 10 years progressive success in various HR assignments, and experience in labor negotiations. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is a plus.

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Human Resources
Act as a proactive thought partner to the Vice President, Human Resources for Safety & Infrastructure, passionately delivering H.R. functional excellence.
Act as the day-to-day business partner for Atkore’s President, Construction & Prefab services.
Contribute as a key HR leadership member actively managing corporate wide HR initiatives. Will lead cross-functional teams on these initiatives.
Actively participate in the monthly HR Lean Daily Management cadence for the overall organizational and Atkore Business System (ABS) action plans.
Employee Engagement & Alignment
Ensure employees are engaged and aligned around our Mission, Values, ABS, strategic priorities, as well as how we purposefully intend to evolve our culture.
Build talent management competence among key talent. Coach Managers to build the best team possible.
Ensure the avoidance of unplanned turnover among key talent and the intentional topgrading of underperformers.
Actively engage in continuous improvement efforts in the Atkore Business System (ABS), particularly the People fundamental element of Engagement and Alignment.
Recruiting and Manpower Management
Contribute to the development of and management of the recruiting, interviewing, assessment, selection, and on-boarding process (Build Your Team or BYT).
Train business leaders to effectively hire for top talent.
Help develop and refine our employer brand identity and implement across various media and recruiting channels.
Drive recruitment time-to-fill improvement and sustain.
Manage a robust external candidate management process with focus on diversity.
Employee Relations
Drive engagement and alignment and a results-oriented culture in supporting business.
Manage anonymous complaint process with effective investigation and follow-up.
Manage and effectively investigate allegations of harassment and other aspects of mismanagement and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Deliver training regarding compliance, performance management and cultural values on a consistent basis. Townhalls and roundtables should have a standard cadence.
Provide appropriate coaching and mentoring where appropriate.
Labor Management
Execute effective negotiations planning process, including executive approval, parameter development and compliance.
Negotiate labor agreements with streamlined health care and pension costs and best in class work rules.
Performance Management
Refine performance appraisal process driving toward a pay for performance culture. Ensure common processes are in place and standard work, including manager training, is in place and effectively utilized.
Drive 100% on-time-delivery to the annual compensation calendar.
Continuously improve the performance review process ensuring managers are having regular candid performance discussions. While driving 100% on-time completion of monthly 1-on-1, mid-year, and year end performance reviews.
Change Management
Function as positive change agent respecting the Atkore culture and values while challenging the status quo.
Compensation and Benefits management
Manage an effective annual enrollment process.
Educate employees on the value of high deductible health plans (HSA & HRA) and manage a migration from PPO to HSA.
Project Management
Manage ad hoc HR projects including effective team and organizational communications of deliverables.
Support Acquisition Activity
Support the merger & acquisition process with particular focus on cultural integration.
Legal Compliance
Ensure compliance with the Atkore Code of Ethical Conduct and all legal requirements related to human resources.
What You’ll Do :
Act as strategic business partner within client groups in creating and leading HR solutions to ensure overall performance within those groups.
Provide HR support in new initiative rollouts in the form of innovative ideas, communication, change management, and thought partnership.
Partner with leaders within your client groups to drive talent management and performance management, which includes succession planning, training and development, performance review completion, etc.
Handle full-cycle recruitment for all positions within client groups. These will be mostly made up of professional positions, contractors and occasionally interns.
Provide tools and support to help management teams drive engagement and alignment (culture) amongst their employees.
Provide coaching to managers regarding employee relations, difficult conversations, and process improvements.
Conduct workplace investigations and report out on findings as needed.
Handle outplacement counseling and exit interviewing for your client groups.
Be the main point of contact to employees within client groups for all benefits, pay, and job-related questions.
Report out on HR metrics and prepare presentations as required.
Drive Engagement and Alignment (cultural) initiatives for your client groups.
Support and drive process improvements for enterprise-wide HR programs and best practices, including and especially any that you eventually become ‘owner’ for.
Conduct research into personnel programs, policies and activities and employment law and recommend strategies, changes or innovations where appropriate.
Maintain necessary records in our Human Resources Information System (UKG).
Ensure compliance with employment related laws (EEO, OSHA, FLSA, ADAAA, FMLA, etc.).
Maintain affirmative action program; prepare EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
Liaise with your manager and/or peers on complex HR issues.
What You Bring :
A Bachelor’s Degree (this is required; additional higher education is great!).
Experience as the go-to business partner for a group of people in an organization.
10+ years’ experience in a Human Resources, preferably in a mid-size company (1,000 – 10,000 employees) and with experience in multiple HR disciplines.
The ability to manage a project and the desire to ‘own’ enterprise-level initiatives.

Within 3 Months, You’ll:
Complete your new hire “Immersion” so that you are ready to rock in your new role.
Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
Be fully competent in navigating Atkore’s HRIS (UKG) and be almost completely familiar with the day-to-day ‘standard work’ for all HR process relevant to Atkore’s HR Business Partners.
Within 6 Months, You’ll:
Not only be known to everyone in your client group as their HR business partner, but they are ecstatic that they get to have YOU as their business partner.
Be comfortable with the day-to-day activities necessary to serve your client groups.
Have assumed ownership of one or more enterprise-wide initiative or HR best practice team.
Within 12 Months, You’ll:
Have built a reputation as someone who is reliable, uses good judgment, hits deadlines, and has made mistakes that you’ve learned from.
Have mastered your day-to-day duties and have not only taken ownership over one or more enterprise-wide initiative or HR best practice team, but you have actively made improvements.
