Position Overview
This is not a desk job and not an Owners Rep role . Our client is seeking a hands-on, in-the-field Vice President of Construction to directly lead construction activities across multiple ground-up projects.
The ideal candidate has extensive in-field construction management experience coupled with a strong background in purchasing and procurement , and knows how to push schedules, manage subcontractors , and drive performance on-site. Youll lead internal teams, coordinate trades, and ensure accountability every step of the wayfrom site prep to final punch list.
This is a leadership role for a true builder who knows how to run constructionnot just from behind a desk, but with boots on the ground. You must bring the energy, urgency, and grit required to keep jobs moving, solve field challenges, and drive quality and performance through to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day construction activities across multiple active ground-up stick-frame multifamily and mixed-use sites
Maintain a strong presence in the fieldregularly walk jobs, lead site meetings, and resolve issues in real time
Manage field superintendents, site staff, and project managers to ensure efficient job execution
Drive project schedules, push critical path items, and hold subcontractors accountable for timely performance
Oversee procurement of labor, materials, and equipmentensuring nothing delays production
Coordinate with design, engineering, and development teams on field implementation
Review and manage scopes, subcontract agreements, and construction timelines
Implement and enforce jobsite safety, quality control, and construction standards
Lead weekly site coordination meetings and owner/GC update sessions
Track project budgets, change orders, and job costs in collaboration with internal teams
Ensure all work meets regulatory, code, and inspection requirements
Serve as the key field decision-maker, reporting progress and challenges to company leadership
Qualifications
Minimum 15 years of hands-on construction experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing ground-up stick-frame multifamily residential projects
Proven ability to drive production in the field , not just manage from an office
Strong scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and site management experience
Deep understanding of residential construction methods, field sequencing, and code compliance
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
Ability to lead with urgency, motivate teams, and push schedules to meet tight deadlines
Experience managing construction budgets from $20M to $100M+
Bachelors degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
Proficient in Procore, MS Project, and construction management tools
