Position Overview: Electrical / General Construction Estimator Hexagon Electrical, located in Long Island City, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical / General Construction Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately predicting the costs associated with electrical installations and general construction work by analyzing project documentation, including blueprints, specifications, and related materials. The estimator will play a key role in preparing bids and proposals, supporting our participation in NYC public agency contracts such as NYCSCA and NYCHA. What to expect Key Responsibilities: Analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates for electrical and general construction work. Perform detailed quantity take-offs from blueprints and construction documents. Calculate material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs to develop comprehensive estimates. Prepare and submit timely and competitive bid proposals for public and private sector projects. Maintain an up-to-date bid log, including tracking of bid due dates, mandatory site walkthroughs, and submission requirements for public agencies such as NYCSCA and NYCHA. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors during the estimating process to ensure completeness and accuracy. Review vendor and subcontractor quotations for scope and pricing compliance. Ensure estimates comply with project timelines, company standards, and client expectations. Work with sister companies as required. Who you are Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience reading blueprints and performing detailed construction cost estimation. Strong analytical and mathematical skills for conducting in-depth cost analysis. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with estimating software is a plus. Familiarity with NYC public construction agency requirements (NYCSCA, NYCHA, etc.) preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in team settings.
