We are seeking an experienced Electrical Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team on a high-profile data center facility project in Sparks, NV. This role focuses on ensuring that the processes, documentation, and compliance programs are in place to guarantee the electrical systems are designed, installed, and commissioned to meet all project, industry, and client standards.
While the emphasis is on proactive quality assurance — setting up and managing quality programs, reviewing plans, and preventing issues before they occur — this position will also involve field verification to ensure the QA program is effectively implemented.
Quality Assurance Duties:
- Review contract documents, Owner Project Requirements, and Basis of Design to ensure alignment with quality standards.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce the electrical quality assurance program in accordance with the Owner’s inspection plan.
- Create and manage QA processes in BIM 360 for tracking issues, documentation, and resolution.
- Develop pre-functional inspection checklists for major electrical equipment in coordination with vendors.
- Review and approve contractor installation and check-out plans to confirm they meet project QA requirements.
- Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and commissioning agents to ensure quality objectives are met from pre-installation through turnover
Field Quality Oversight:
- Perform targeted site inspections to verify that work aligns with drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Review installation methods, material handling, and storage procedures to ensure compliance with QA guidelines.
- Oversee receipt inspections for incoming electrical equipment.
- Confirm corrective actions are completed and documented before system energization and testing.
Systems in Scope:
- Fire alarm detection systems.
- Transformers (dry and oil-filled), MV substations, MV/LV switchgear.
- UPS systems, battery monitoring, ATS/transfer switchgear.
- Distribution panels, grounding systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Standby generators, BMS devices, PMS/SCADA electrical controls.
- Medium/low-voltage pathways and conductors.
Minimum:
- 10+ years of electrical quality assurance or related experience on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong understanding of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems in mission-critical or semiconductor environments.
- Ability to develop and enforce QA programs and review complex project documentation (drawings, specifications, test plans).
Preferred:
- Background as a superintendent, foreman, or electrical contractor with QA oversight responsibilities.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, BIM 360, and quality documentation tools.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on high-technology projects.
