The Estimator is responsible for estimating, proposal development and management for public and private construction projects, and assembling complete bid packages and proposals to efficiently, successfully, and profitably obtain and complete assigned construction projects. This position reports to the President. Responsibilities Develop estimates ranging from $200,000 - $20 million+ from various types of bid documents and specifications and their key components such as bonding, insurance, indemnification and damage clauses. Ensure thorough and accurate quantity takeoffs. Thoroughly read plans and specifications and review for accurate scope of work and means & methods assessment. Visit proposed job sites (local\regional only). Attend pre-bid meetings. Obtain owner sign-off on all bids before submittal. Understand and be able to account for factors outside company control which will impact the final bid package. Attend network events to attract private work. Train and mentor entry level estimating team members. Qualifications REQUIRED: 5+ years experience with heavy civil, structures, site work, underground utilities, excavation and deep foundations. Proficiency with estimating software is REQUIRED (HCSS HeavyBid preferred). Experience bidding in the Northeastern US is preferred. Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook and all forms of data entry. Effective utilization of the internet as a research and information source Experience with PennDOT or PWSA specifications and bid items preferred. This Estimator position is a full-time, in-person, and permanent position. Our EOE company participates in the e-Verify program, background checks and random drug testing.
