Summary
The Assistant Field Construction Manager supports the Field Construction Manager in overseeing on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans and specifications. This role helps coordinate labor, materials, and equipment on-site, assists with schedule tracking, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards
Responsibilities
- Weekly Report, Monthly Reports, site weekly minutes of meetings.
- Monitor Schedule and document all project activity.
- Monitor Safety, Environment and Quality; provide a tip in the onsite meeting.
- Maintain and update the onsite H&S, Environment and Quality project binder.
- Review contractor invoices and schedules and provide feedback.
- Conduct weekly project progress meeting. Request the contractor two-week look ahead schedule at each weekly meeting.
- Present at all times onsite when work is being performed
- Immediate notification to PM of all problems or foreseeable issues throughout construction, or any complaint presented by the general public.
- Coordinate Material delivery
- Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications, quality and adherence to construction schedules.
- Minimize Change Orders.
- Review and understand the project documentation and any related documentation and provide input to enhance the constructability of the Project, taking into account schedule, cost and quality considerations.
- Initiate transmission outage requests for project work
- Coordinate as necessary with all local and state municipalities throughout project execution.
- Adhere to company policies, programs and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC). Ensure all requirements are maintained throughout the project execution
- Availability to support emergency storm restoration efforts
- All other tasks as assigned by management.
Skills & Abilities
- Very organized, and able provide a good paper trail.
- Work proactively to solve problems and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
Qualifications
- BS/BA or 5+ yrs combined experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Construction Management
- Construction, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment
- Relay protection and control systems
- Start-up and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems
- Electrical Field engineering
- Arc Flash safety training
- Troubleshooting of electrical equipment or systems.
- SCADA and communication systems
- First Aid/AED and OSHA 10 / OSHA 30 certifications a plus.
- Pass pre-employment drug & background screens.
