Position Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Financial Accountant with strong experience in the construction industry. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate classification of revenues and expenses across multiple divisions to support proper job costing, financial analysis, and reporting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for month end closings, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and assisting other accounting functions, budgeting and sales tax preparation.

Key Responsibilities


Revenue & Expense Classification
  • Ensure accurate coding of revenues and expenses by division, project, and cost category.
  • Maintain consistent application of job costing standards for all projects.
  • Assist with commercial/AIA invoicing.
  • Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure costs are properly captured and allocated.
Accounting & Month-End Close
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Conduct account analysis and reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Perform month-end closing procedures to deliver timely and accurate financial results.
  • Prepare financial statements, variance reports, and management dashboards.
Compliance & Tax
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns in compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Ensure proper handling and reporting of inventory transactions.
Expense & Credit Card Management
  • Oversee company expense reports and corporate credit card reconciliations.
  • Verify compliance with company procurement and expense policies.
Qualifications


Education & Experience
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, construction industry preferred.
  • Experience with job costing and multi-division financial reporting required.
  • CPA, CMA or similar certification is a plus.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in ERP systems (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, Power Query, VBA, Data Cleansing, complex formulas).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Workspace (G Suite).
Other Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
