Title: Foreman of Building and Construction Laborer
CHARACTERISTICS OF CLASS: Under general supervision, functions as a working Foreman over one or more work crews, directing and supervising Building and Construction Laborers, and performing physically demanding labor at construction, repair and maintenance projects.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Makes daily work assignments, ensures work crews are properly staffed and prioritizes work orders based on available manpower.
- Coordinates work efforts.
- Maintains clear communication with other supervisory personnel.
- Reviews work objectives to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of work operations.
- Maintains work orders on computer booking labor, authorizes timesheets and submits requisitions for materials.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:
- Three years of work experience as a building and construction laborer in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, bricklayers, roofing, glaziers and cement finishers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Work practices and standards used in the construction labor craft.
- Use of power and hand tools, and operation of equipment used on construction work sites.
- Applicable safety practices and procedures specific to construction labor.
- Ability to work in a non-support capacity and arrange machinery and debris pickups through the Motor Truck Driver Foreman.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Moderate Lifting (up to 50lbs) required
- Ability to stand walk or bend for extended or continuous periods of time
- Ability to access multi-level facilities
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
- Exposure to loud noise, fumes or dust, oily or wet environment
- Exposure to potentially hazardous conditions (e.g., construction sites, heavy machinery)
License Requirement: Must have and maintain a valid Illinois Driver's License
Rate of Pay: $106,600.00/annually
