Location: On-site in Northern New Jersey (convenient to Warren, Passaic, Morris, Essex and Sussex Counties)
Compensation $175K base + substantial performance-based bonus + full benefits
Overview
A privately held, multi-division field services company is seeking a hands-on, results-driven operations leader to oversee business performance, team management, and process improvement. This leadership role manages several key service lines in excavation, environmental remediation, fuel system services, and site contracting, with responsibility for a 25+ person team and dozens of concurrent projects each month.
Role Summary
The successful candidate will take operational ownership of a fast-moving field services company with a strong reputation for responsiveness and quality execution. Youll be responsible for aligning people, systems, and financial performance to meet growth goals and deliver on client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the company budget, focusing on gross and net income targets
Oversee equipment acquisition, utilization, and maintenance
Direct multiple division heads, each managing customer-facing operations
Develop and refine lead generation, intake, and proposal response systems
Use AI and workflow automation to streamline internal processes and proposal delivery
Define and track KPIs across departments and hold teams accountable to them
Drive internal communication between field crews and office teams
Support the launch of a new business division, including recruiting and process build out
Partner with the CEO (who is not based on-site) to execute on company vision
Ideal Background
10+ years of operations leadership in construction, trades, or environmental services
Experience serving both consumer and commercial markets, balancing high-volume homeowner jobs with longer-cycle commercial engagements
Strong people management experience with a collaborative and motivational style
Proven success managing field-based teams and multiple revenue-generating divisions
Familiarity with prevailing wage work and estimating public/private sector jobs
Systems-minded, with fluency in KPI design, tracking, and operational accountability
Working knowledge of AI tools or automation platforms to increase speed and efficiency
Strong recruiting instincts and networkcan identify and hire the right people
